US 219 Improvement Project: I-68 to Old Salisbury RoadA Planning and Environment Linkages (PEL) study was completed in July 2016 for US 219 from I-68 in Maryland to Meyersdale, Pennsylvania. The purpose of the PEL study was to allow transportation agencies, resource agencies and the public to work together to identify goals and objectives, deficiencies and needs, possible solutions/alternatives, and to provide a preliminary screening of solutions to identified transportation problems.
To provide transportation improvements that are responsive to planned economic development.
The stand-alone project resulting from the PEL study is referred to as the US 219 Improvement Project from I-68 to Old Salisbury Road. The project is approximately 1.4 miles and extends along US 219 from points near the I-68 Interchange to Old Salisbury Road. The US 219 Improvement Project’s environmental document (Categorical Exclusion/Final Section 4(f) Evaluation) was approved by FHWA in July 2017. This project has now moved into the design and right-of-way phases.
